2010 Junior Rugby Starting Up!!
Crideout, Tuesday 01 June 2010 - 02:07:26 // Comments are turned off for this item, Trackbacks:
Saracens are committing to Boys and Girls U18 teams as well as Boys U16, competing in the Blue (Competitive) Division.
The U-14s have combined with Beach, Scottish, and Nomads to create an Inner City Toronto Squad, with teams competing in both the Blue (Competitive) and Red (Development) Leagues
U14s (both Blue and Red teams) are playing their first game this Saturday June 5.
* U14s are training Tuesday and Thursdays at Cameron PS for the time being; if needed, they may relocate to a more central field space.
* Contact and Coach is Bill Di Nardo [Email Address]
U16s first game is supposedly scheduled for June 12th.
* U16s will be training at Sunnybrook Park on Sunday June 6th from 3-5pm followed by training on Wednesday evening from 6:30-8:30pm.
* U16s may start training Mon & Thursdays (with U14s) at new fieldspace once the U18 season starts
o So that they get 2 training sessions per game
* Contacts are David Young [Email Address] and Jonathan Geisler [Email Address]
* Coach is Alf Scharlach
U18s Boys and Girls first games are Weds, June 30th. League rules stipulate that we must have 18 players registered for each team as of June 23rd.
* U18 Boys may start training this coming Sunday June 6th then Weds night, moving to Mon & Weds nights.
o They may move to Thursday nights instead of Wednesdays so that they get 2 training sessions per game.
* Contacts for Boys U18s are Dino Manoukas [Email Address] and Chris Rideout [Email Address]
* Coach is Alf Scharlach
In addition, there is a Saracen Family and Alumni Day on Sunday June 20th at Sunnybrook Park in which all new and experienced Saracen players are invited, along with their friends and families, for a BBQ and perhaps a game or two of touch rugby... The intent of the event is to have fun, connect with Saracens, new and of old, and get a feeling for the history and culture of the club.
* The Saracens are hosting a Youth tournament (U8, U10, and U12s) from 9-12:30pm on June 20th, which will showcase how popular the game is with young kids.
* Following this tournament, we'll have a touch tournament, plus BBQ and beverages.
o We expect all juniors (who are not trialling for Ontario) to be in attendance and playing in the touch tournament!!
o The U18s Boys can finalize their registration on Sunday June 20th
* We'll deliver more information as it becomes available...

Training is now at sunnybrook Park on mon and Weds, starting at 6:30pm.
Bring your friends, come out and attend, and stay and socialize afterward!
Nothing feels better than earning a beverage through hard work!!
Better yet, positive results come from training hard together - so you can knock off two birds with the one stone!! Train hardto help win matches AND earn a frosty, chilled beverage through putting in good hard effort on the training paddock!!
