Women's Club Captain message
by Crideout, Friday 27 March 2009 - 17:57:05
Welcome to the Toronto Saracens.
It is a great honour to have been selected as the first Club Captain for the women’s program in the Saracens’ history. The creation of this position is a sign of the growth and stabilization of a highly competitive women’s game in Canada. It also reflects the club’s recognition of the role the women’s side plays within the club’s success and dynamic and a Saracen commitment to fostering a strong development hub for girls and women in Ontario.
2009 is an exciting time to be a Saracen.
With the return of Coach Andy Ireland and the strong core of veteran players who have helped the club to rise through the OWL, the Saracens are poised to have a great year. 2008 was a season of top finishes for the women in the history of the club. The momentum we’ve gained in the past year has been building during off-season training and gym time and the Saracens are eager to get back onto the pitch and set a new benchmark in the 2009 season.
So to hell with any other team we meet,
For we will show no mercy,
And we’ll fight, fight, fight
With all our might
For t]he gals in the green and white jerseys.
I look forward to sharing the hard work, the fun times and the pride of stepping onto the field in that green and white jersey with you.
Shannon
