President's Message
by Crideout, Friday 20 January 2006 - 00:47:49
Welcome to the 2010 Toronto Saracens.
2009 saw the Saracen Men and Women compete strongly, with the Saracen Men just narrowly missing winning the League. Both the Men and Women are exepected to be competing the Ontario Leagues this year.
This year, we continue to develop the concept that the Saracens are a North York-Leaside Community organization within the city of Toronto.
Our Youth and Minis programmes is in it's 5th year and we're changing our structure to gaining parent engagement as we have a bunch of our U14 players moving up to the U16s this year. The key being for us to continue to provide a fun environment to encouraging the juniors to develop a love for the sport and build lasting bonds.
Keith Hancock, Brian Smith, Rob MacLauchlan and Pat Russell continue, as non-Executive Directors, to contribute their experience, networks and passion for the game and for the Saracens to focus the Executive to develop. This year, in addition to their overview role, a non-Executive Director will be responsible for keeping an eye on their portfolio of:
We're still considering looking to add non-Executive Director role responsible for Branding and Rugby.
Given recent news regarding the merger of Markham Irish, we anticipate acceleration on decisions and actions involving Fletchers. The Fletchers' Steering Committee will have their work cut out for them this year.
All of these activities indicate continuing the significant change we started 3 years ago to focus on:
As the season approaches, we look forward to seeing everyone, new and familiar, out to either train and play or at least watch and support; we're more than just a sports club - we're a family.
After all - We Are The Toronto Saracens !!!..

- Facilities/fletchers (Keith H)

We're still considering looking to add non-Executive Director role responsible for Branding and Rugby.
Given recent news regarding the merger of Markham Irish, we anticipate acceleration on decisions and actions involving Fletchers. The Fletchers' Steering Committee will have their work cut out for them this year.
All of these activities indicate continuing the significant change we started 3 years ago to focus on:
- continuing to develop our local community orientation and presence,
- maintaining our strong fiscal responsibility,
- marrying our strong welcoming and social culture with a focus on competitive rugby and athleticism,
- having every member of our club promoting who we are and what fun we have, and
- developing and expanding our junior, youth and minis programme - they are the future of the club
As the season approaches, we look forward to seeing everyone, new and familiar, out to either train and play or at least watch and support; we're more than just a sports club - we're a family.
